For a place out in the middle of the desert, it was probably better than expected. It is fairly barren, but each site came with one sad tree, power and water. Aside from a too narrow entry driveway, access was good and rig parking was easy.
They do have a small lake/pond adjacent to the campground that might be nice to sit alongside.
It was a stopover spot with close access to Joshia Tree NP, and served that role well for what they charged.
Beautiful campground and man made lake with hookups, clean bathrooms and a dog run! We liked it so much we extended our stay another night. Very well maintained, close to town and the park. You can also go on a quick drive to see the Transmission sculpture from here. I highly recommend!
We stayed here to watch the Perseid meteor shower (beautiful btw), but we packed up our tent and left at 1:30 AM because MULTIPLE neighbors were loudly talking and/or playing music. Quiet hours start at 10 PM but there wasn’t anyone enforcing this, which is extremely unfortunate. (Apparently you can call security for this…. Wish I would’ve been informed about that. Regardless, it wasn’t just one group; there were so many groups talking and laughing loudly.)
People were also walking around constantly with their shoes crunching in the gravel and flashlights shining into our tent. I felt like the sites were too close together to be honest.
Despite that, I am giving two stars because the employees I interacted with were extremely nice and welcoming. The campsite itself is fine, but not the best.
Nice quiet campground with easy pull through spots. Location is approx 6+ miles from town of JT and the surrounding desert towns. Approx 30 min drive to the national park. Great spot for stargazing.
Large RV park with trees at most sites. Full hook ups as well as a dump station for those who stay at sites without hook ups. Great staff very helpful in answering questions. Restrooms and showers available as well. The pond has fish for catch and release fishing. Lots of nice shady places to rest and read. Wi-Fi available but it only extends about 100 feet from the office.
Location is close to the park entrances as well as shopping and sites and museums in town.
Got to spend the day with my family here for the night on October 3rd, 2023. It was great! Cozy stay away from all the distractions! Starry clear night! Great views, great showers and of course great weather! I will plan on stopping by again!
Went to the Gem and Mineral Show, which this year is at the Joshua Tree Campground and Lake. Surprisingly, we've never been even though it's in our hometown, so we checked it out.
Surpassed our skeptical assumptions of it. Not bad in a JT kinda unique way!
Several artistically designed gathering areas, each with seating areas.
The lake isn't large, but it's a nice setting, and we've heard it has fish, so you can fish here. Today, the 3 fishermen left empty-handed.
There is a concert venue on the South side, the lake is in the middle, and the campground is to the East.
Check them out, camp, fish, or enjoy an event like we did.
Attended Bhakti Fest here. There's a nice lake in the middle of the desert that's always fun. I camped so I can't speak to hook ups but there was a nice bathroom and place to wash your dishes and potable water. Joshua Tree might be the best star gazing in all the US in my opinion.
